EOI: DSO Replay Operator (Volunteer)

MotorSport New Zealand are seeking expressions of interest for a DSO Replay Operator to join the Race Management Team for the 2026-27 season.

About the Role

The DSO Replay Operator is a volunteer support role within the MotorSport New Zealand National Championship, working at all NextGen NZ Championship rounds across New Zealand.

Operating from Race Control, you will manage the broadcast replay system, providing Driving Standards Observers (DSOs), Race Directors and Stewards with the video evidence they need to make informed decisions during race sessions and judicial hearings.

Importantly, this is not a decision-making officiating role. Your responsibility is to quickly locate, review and present the requested footage. You will not interpret incidents, provide opinions, or make recommendations on driving standards or judicial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the broadcast replay system throughout race meetings.
• Retrieve and present video footage requested by DSOs, Race Directors and Stewards.
• Respond quickly to multiple replay requests during live race sessions.
• Ensure relevant incidents can be reviewed efficiently during hearings.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling judicial material.
• Work collaboratively with the Race Control team and senior MotorSport New Zealand officials.

About You

This role is well suited to someone who:

• Remains calm and focused under pressure.
• Can confidently manage multiple requests simultaneously.
• Has strong computer skills and is comfortable learning new software.
• Has an understanding of motorsport and circuit racing.
• Is organised, attentive to detail, and communicates clearly.
• Understands the importance of remaining impartial and supporting, rather than influencing, officiating decisions.

No prior replay experience is required – full training will be provided.

Commitment

The DSO Replay Operator is a key member of the MotorSport New Zealand Race Management Team and is expected to be available for all NextGen NZ Championship rounds throughout the season. This includes a demanding run of four consecutive race weekends during January, so applicants should carefully consider the time commitment before applying.

Travel is typically on Friday afternoon or evening, with return travel on Sunday evening or Monday morning, depending on the race schedule and flight availability.

Volunteers will work alongside some of MotorSport New Zealand’s most experienced officials in a fast-paced, professional environment, travelling to premier circuits across New Zealand.

Travel, accommodation and approved expenses are fully covered by MotorSport New Zealand.
